Cut Energy Costs with New Insulated Wall

In New York State alone, the savings, in fuel oil, that would be achieved with the use of the NRGTM Insulated Wall System is calculated to be 18,300,000 barrels annually. This equates to a dollar savings of $1608.00 per commercial building and $867.00 per household in the state. These figures are compiled from sources obtained by Ecology and Environment Inc., an internationally known company that has helped NRGTM compile information acquired from The Energy Information Administration (EIA) of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).*

It is a well known fact that air conditioners are great consumers of electricity. From the figures obtained, we estimate that at least 40% or 8,580,000,000 kWh of energy consumption due to air conditioners could be eliminated by building with NRGTM Inulated Wall System. This is not only a great savings of energy but a fine savings in dollars for consumers.

The thermal performance of a wall (constructed and subjected to daily cycles of temperature change through a range of values from a minimum temperature at night to a maximum during the day) depends on two things:

  1. the R-value, which is measured under steady-state (static) conditions and describes how fast heat can flow through a wall and,
  2. the thermal inertia of the wall, a dynamic condition which describes how fast a wall can heat up or cool down.

The energy required for heating and/or cooling an enclosed space depends greatly upon the weight and the specific heat (thermal mass/inertia) of the enclosing walls. Heavy walls, like, the NRGTM insulated wall system, absorb heat energy and then release it depending upon external temperature rise or fall, thereby acting as a dampening storage tank to changes within the enclosure.

Besides the energy conservation factor of this project, a further benefit is that, no wood products are used in this wall. This means a reduction in deforestation. A traditional wood framed house typically consumes up to 50 trees. Very little waste is produced during the construction of the NRGTM Insulated Wall System and all remnants are 100% recyclable. Absolutely no harmful CFC's and HCFC's are used in the manufacture of the materials used in this wall. NRG is environmentally friendly to the atmosphere as well as to the earth's forests.

Regardless of the climate - hot, cold, wet, or dry - this wall system is the best to use because it is not only more cost effective and easier to build, but it is stronger and will not burn.

In some areas of the United States, insects are a major problem for buildings and building owners. Bugs don't eat what this wall is made of.

Dry rot is another problem that plagues building owners. Unlike wood walls, the units used in NRGTM walls are concrete and expanded polystyrene and provide no carbon based materials to support mildew and dry rot in the wall.
