Boosting Your Web Traffic In 5 Simple Ways

They say in the property market, the MOST important criteria when gauging how well a house or building would go up for sale was the location, location and location! Well, if you put that in the context of an Internet Business, then the Most important thing that webmasters do every day is getting traffic, traffic and more traffic to their website. It’s because no matter how fancy your website is or how good a product/service you’re selling, you’re not going to make a sale if no one stops by and has a look. You might as well fold up and sell hot dogs at the amusement park. (food business is by far, still the best business even in an economic downturn)

The following will be a few ideas on how you can drive more traffic to your site and this is by no means a comprehensive guide. I’ve garnered this through my 5 months experience since I’ve set up my website regarding Affiliate/Revenue Programs and Webmaster Resources at http://btpnative.com/

1. Get on the Classifieds and get noticed

Some people feel that putting a small ad in the classifieds is just a waste of time. If you took into account the number of Classifieds and FFA links, the number would range into the millions.

Well, I think it’s all a matter of creativity. It’s how you word your ad and attract the average surfer’s eyes. Something like “FREE REPORT on how to get $10,000 a day” will get people requesting for it just because it won’t cost them a cent.

However, it should be noted that there are very few free classified ad sites that actually work. Yahoo is one of the shining lights that stands out above the crowd of mediocre free ad sites. Yahoo has more traffic than any other Internet site and it definitely shows when you place your ads here.

On Yahoo http://www.yahoo.com, you are allowed to place 10 ads at a time, so do so. A little key to creating effective ads here is to delete your ads every few days and replace them. Then, you will be able to keep your ads towards the top of the list and receive more free readers.

2. Advertise in Ezines or barter with them

The biggest bang for your marketing buck will come from ezine advertising. For $10 – $50 per classified ad, you can reach thousands or millions ( depending on the subscriber base ) of potential customers within your targeted market. Some ezines even offer to place your ad when you subscribe or trade ads with you if you’re an ezine publisher. Well, mine does and you’re welcomed to do so.

With thousands of different ezines available, you can expand into hundreds of them once you find a classified ad and follow-up system that works for your product or service.

For an idea of the advertising rates in my ezine, send blank. You’ll expose your ad to 300++ subscribers and get some traffic.

3. Trade Links, not kidneys

If you develop a strong content oriented site you can persuade thousands of other webmasters to link to you or to trade links with you. There are even a few consultants online who have developed linking campaigns and have achieved a million hits a month or more for their customers within 90 days by linking with the right sites.

You can do this yourself. The key is to develop content people want to link to and then get out there and make the contacts by visiting people’s sites, sending out personalized emails to webmasters you have visited, and networking in discussion groups or discussion lists like Epub [email protected] or Online Publishers http://www.IdeaStation.com or ComDev [email protected]

4. Give me Free Stuff

The KING of traffic is free stuff. If you want to get real traffic to your site, provide the kind of free content and services that your market is hunting desperately for. The word “Free” is one of the most popular words keyed into search engines.

Provide free articles to other websites. Provide free downloads. Give away free CGI programs. Provide hundreds of links to needed tools. Provide links to downloadable software. Give your visitors what they want and they will keep coming back and referring their friends. All this adds to lots of traffic, 24 hours a day! Can you imagine the money rolling in yet..

5. Fire your Autoresponders away

Autoresponders were developed as a powerful tool allowing people to send a message asking for further information on some subject. They were not developed as a way to respond to every incoming message with mindless pitches for every get-rich-quick scheme of the day like “How to use this DUMB LITTLE AD to make $200 cash” which I see very often.
