As you probably know, there are many benefits of using a template design for your next new website or blog. After all, if there were no benefits, thousands of people would not be using website templates. But even though you will come across many advantages, there are some risks involved with using website templates as well. You need to consider both the pros and cons before you either decide for or against a template design.

The main risk of using a website template is that somebody else may use your exact theme on their site. Worse yet, if they are in the same industry as you this could really cause some problems. There is nothing wrong with using a website template, but your audience may perceive you as lazy and uninformed for cutting corners. Even though this is not true, it is the perception that your visitors have that counts.

Another risk is that you may not be able to customize everything to meet your exact needs. While it is easy to get a site started if you use a template, there are some things that you will not be able to customize unless you have some technical knowledge. In turn, you will more than likely have to hire a professional designer to assist you. And if you are going to have to do this sooner or later, you might feel that it is better to simply start with a unique design.

The bottom line is that there are some risks involved with using a website template. You need to weigh the pros and cons, and then decide how important your design is to your overall success. You may find out that a template is the perfect choice because your design does not have much to do with how you operate your site. At the same time, your design may be very important by the way that it will helps to attract and retain visitors.
